Sedona is known as the day-hiking capital of the World, and for good reason. With more than 200 trails covering 400 miles there are plenty of options for all ages and skill levels. Let's start with a really easy, yet extremely beautiful one! This is the view from Fay Canyon Trail. Located on the west side of Sedona this trail is perfect for beginners, families or those looking for a smooth easy trail. Located off Boynton Pass road, this 2.4 mile out and back offers plenty of shade, scenic views, and even an arch you can climb up to. Next on our list Soldier Pass trail. This trailhead parking is very challenging, so we highly recommend taking the Sedona Shuttle www.sedonashuttle.com . This is a longer hike at 4.5 miles out and back, but passes by some amazing scenery such as the seven sacred pools, solider pass caves, and devils kitchen sinkhole. If you have an off-highway vehicle you can purchase a pass to drive the OHV trail that parallels the hiking trail. Passes can be purchased here to drive the trail: https://www.recreation.gov/permits/4251901 If you're ready for an easy scramble check out Doe Mountain. This trail is also on the west side Sedona off Boynton Pass road and is a short 1.5 mile out and back trail. The ascent is 0.7 miles and takes you to a beautiful plateau with amazing views. Time your hike with sunset for a spectacular experience. For the ultimate easy hike with Instagram-worthy views make sure to add Secret Slick Rock Trail to your must-do list. This 0.7 mile, flat, out and back trail offers epic views of Cathedral Rock. This trail lacks a lot of shade, but can be a perfect spot for sunset views or late-night stargazing. Bring a chair or a picnic and watch the sunset create stunning reds and oranges on Cathedral rock. This is a picture I took recently right from the trailhead. Come explore some of our favorite spots for amazing drinks and live music! First on our list is Red Wall lounge and distillery. Located in West Sedona with beautiful red rock views and amazing atmosphere this is the perfect spot for before or after dinner drinks. The best part is they are moments away from our West Sedona home! Next on our list is Sound Bites Grill. Located in Uptown Sedona, they feature a full menu, live music, and fantastic red rock views. Get music lines ups and make reservations at www.soundbitesgrill.com . Conveniently located in the heart of uptown near many beautiful shops and walking paths. A little bit outside Sedona in the quaint town of Cornville you'll find DA Ranch winery and vineyard. They feature Arizona grown wines, a beautiful tasting room, and often have live music and food trucks. See their website here for specifics: www.daranch.com . Although they don't have red rock views iconic of Sedona, they are located in the lush valley known as Page Springs. Our Cornville Tiny Homes share this valley with DA Ranch, you can see their vineyards from our homes! If the pub scene is more your style check our Mooney's Irish Pub, just south of Uptown. They feature a full bar, restaurant, live music, and special events. If you're heading to Sedona, did you know that the Grand Canyon is not far away? There are many ways to get to the Canyon, you can drive, take a train, or take a tour. Drive: From our homes the South Rim of the Grand Canyon is about 2.5 hours away by car. When you drive you can choose your own adventure and timeline. Stop at the visitors center and grab a map to see the best lookout points and hiking trails. If you'd rather stay in your car take Desert View Drive (also known as East View Drive) east from the visitors center for a 26 mile journey along the South Rim with plenty of areas to stop along the way to take in the fantastic views. Train: The Grand Canyon Railway is a great option if you don't want to drive. You can find their schedule and information at www.thetrain.com. We've done this route several times and always have a blast! (The train even turns into the Polar Express in the winter!). The Train leaves out of Williams, AZ and takes about 3 hours to arrive at the South Rim. You can pack your own snacks and bring a cooler on board, they even have cowboys to entertain you on your journey. Tours: If you want to get the most out of your day at the Canyon we highly recommend catching a tour with Grand Canyon Adventures at www.dothecanyon.com. They are family owned and offer several types of tours from a day trip to several day adventures. In addition to exploring the Grand Canyon, they can also escort you to the famous Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend areas of Page, AZ.
